Developed in the Netherlands for orthodox Protestant parents and for healthcare professionals dealing with those parents.The brochures are based on the results of Helma Ruijs' (RIVM) thesis on Acceptance of Vaccination among Orthodox Protestants in The Netherlands.The aim of the brochure for the parents is to stimulate them to make a deliberate decision on vaccination. 2 million children receive oral polio vaccine in Uzbekistan during EIW2012.

During EIW, 23-28 April, the first round of supplemental polio immunization activities targeted nearly 2 million children under the age of 5 years in six provinces considered at higher risk of poliovirus transmission. Reported coverage is 99.8%. The second round is scheduled for 21-26 May 2012.See More

The importance of engaging the general public

Yesterday's Free-Thinkers meeting in Stockholm proved to be a great idea and an eye-opener for those of us engaged in public health and immunization on an everyday basis. Why did this meeting particularly elicit new solutions, ideas, and concepts - many of them surprising and innovative?  Well, it was well facilitated and warmly hosted, but the key reason for the new insight and free-thinking was that the general public were engaged.
