WHO Director-General on anti-vaccine sentiments
WHO Director-General Dr. Margaret Chan included some remarks about the worrying trend of anti-vaccine sentiments in her opening speech to the WHO Executive Board on 17 January 2011. She said,
In some cases, persuading the public to seek vaccination has become even more problematic than during the [H1N1] pandemic. As documented in the report on immunization, the problem of public mistrust extends well beyond influenza vaccines.
